The People’s Association (PA) has been organising Embracing PArenthood events across Singapore for parents of babies born in 2016 and 2017. The purpose of this event is to showcase the various promotions for new parents as well as for families to gather for some simple activities. I must say, the highlight of this event, at least for me, is the NTUC Good Start Bundle promotion. I will talk more about this in a separate post, as it is deemed important enough for me to do so. (There’s a complimentary one-year insurance coverage for your baby!) For now, I shall focus on what parents will expect in the Embracing PArenthood event (especially the goodie bags!).
The Embracing PArenthood Invitation Card
About a month ago, we received an invitation from PA regarding the Embracing PArenthood event to be held at our district’s Community Club. I had been anticipating it for quite awhile as I had heard about this event, but have little idea about what it was.

The Embracing PArenthood Invitation Card
Back in this post about freebies for parents, I mentioned there is a special edition Passion Card designed for our newborns. Along with the invitation card, there were some instructions for parents to submit the application for the Passion Card, together with the family photo.

I emailed them our attendance, and they responded with a confirmation. Before the event, I also received several SMS reminders to remind us to attend the event.

We arrived at exactly 2.30pm at the Multi-Purpose Hall at Bishan Community Club. The hall space catered for just the right size of crowd. There was just enough space to walk around. Before entering the hall, we queued to register and collect the Passion Card. They also gave us a goodie bag, and tickets to collect various gifts across different stations.

Check out the cute baby-themed balloons!
The first station we headed to was the NTUC Good Start booth. The volunteers informed every parent of the NTUC Good Start Bundle, and would assist them in applying for it if they hadn’t already done so. This station is a must-go, as they give out a goodie bag that contains the IncomeShield voucher for one year complimentary premium. Do check out the separate post on this, as they offer pretty good perks for parents and babies.
I also did a brief mention about the NTUC Good Start Bundle in this post.

They had this large mat for children and babies to play on right in the middle of the hall. Baby J was super excited and wouldn’t leave!

Baby J refused to leave the mat!
During the session, there were a couple of short activities. One was with Focus on the Family group teaching parents some simple parenting tips. Another was with the baby massage experts teaching parents simple ways to massage our babies.
Around the hall, there were various booths, like a photo booth and a baby footprint kit booth.
At the end of the event, we took a group photo and collected our gift set.
